Complainant is Maple Grove Police Department Officer Paige Jarmuzek. Complainant states that on April 8, 2026, officers conducted a pedestrian stop in the area of Hemlock Lane North in the city of Maple Grove, Hennepin County, Minnesota, after observing the individual carrying a large rifle and what appeared to be other firearms on his person. Officers were sitting at the BP gas station in an unmarked squad car when they observed a male individual, later identified as JOSHUA COLE SCHALLOCK [DOB REDACTED], walking towards the BP carrying a backpack that had a long rifle wrapped in a white towel that was strapped to the backpack.
Officers observed the rifle's butt stock and the remainder of the rifle was covered by the towel, but it was rigid and got skinnier towards the other end, consistent with a barrel and design of a long-rifle. Additionally, while observing SCHALLOCK, officers observed he was holding his right arm down by his side while freely moving his left arm and appeared to be holding something in place on his right hip. SCHALLOCK then bent forward and officers observed what appeared to be an imprint of a handgun on his hip beneath his shirt.
SCHALLOCK then left the gas station and cut across 4 lanes of traffic in an area that there was no crosswalk and had a center median lane. SCHALLOCK then went to the entrance of St. Joseph the Worker's church and officers conducted a stop. Officers made contact with SCHALLOCK and asked if he had any weapons on him, however SCHALLOCK did not respond. Officers conducted a frisk and located a firearm on his right hip. Officers asked SCHALLOCK what was wrapped in the towel and he advised it was another firearm.
SCHALLOCK then advised there was a third firearm in his front right pocket. Officers asked SCHALLOCK if he had a permit to carry and he stated he did not. SCHALLOCK was placed under arrest and officers confirmed that SCHALLOCK did not have a permit to carry a concealed firearm. The rifle was identified as a Marlin.22 rifle that was loaded with 11 rounds including one in the chamber. The firearm that was recovered from SCHALLOCK's hip was a Smith and Wesson M&P9 2.0, which had approximately 17 rounds in the magazine.
The firearm in SCHALLOCK's front pocket was identified as a Glock 42 and had approximately 5 rounds of.380 in the magazine. Officers conducted a search of the backpack and located a plastic case with 100 rounds of.22 ammunition and other personal items. SCHALLOCK was placed under arrest and was transported to the Hennepin County Jail.
