On August 28, 2025, at approximately 4:24 P.M., police responded to the Tobacco Store at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota, on a report of a male harassing people in the store and hitting them with some sort of metal ball. Upon arrival, police located the suspect, who was very agitated. An employee came out of the store carrying a sword and yelling that the male destroyed everything inside the store. The employee was sent back into the store, and a crowd of other individuals also went into the store.
A sergeant monitoring the situation on CCTV observed two males carrying bags standing in front of the store. One of the males, later identified as DOMINIQUE DANGELO TAYLOR – [DOB REDACTED], confronted the store employee. As police arrived on scene, TAYLOR and the other male entered the store. The store employee exited the store again as did TAYLOR, although TAYLOR was no longer carrying a bag he had been carrying previously. The other male exited the store carrying his bag. The male appeared nervous as police approached the store and began walking away.
The male then walked back toward the store with others. A short time later, the male, another male, who was now carrying the bag TAYLOR was seen carrying earlier, and TAYLOR walked away from the store together to a parked vehicle. The two males placed the bags in the backseat. The sergeant was suspicious that the bags contained firearms and conveyed this information to police on scene, who detained the males. In a search of the bag TAYLOR was seen possessing, police located a black Glock 19 9mm handgun configured with an auto sear, which makes the handgun capable of firing fully automatically, and a live round was in the chamber of the firearm.
Following a Miranda advisory, TAYLOR was informed why he was arrested. TAYLOR immediately asked to see video from inside the store. TAYLOR admitted wearing the bag that contained a firearm but denied knowledge of the firearm inside. Pursuant to a search warrant, police obtained a DNA sample from TAYLOR. On November 30, 2025, the BCA issued its report on the examination of physical evidence with the following DNA results: Item 3 (swabbing from the grip, slide serrations, etc., from agency item 9, which is the Glock 19 handgun): Interpreted as a DNA mixture originating from three individuals The statistical calculation supports the inclusion of Dominique Dangelo Taylor to the DNA mixture The probability of observing this DNA mixture is greater than 100 billion times more likely if Dominique Dangelo Taylor and two unknown, unrelated individuals are the sources than if three unknown, unrelated individuals are the source Item 4 (swabbing from the muzzle from agency item 9, which is the Glock 19 handgun): Interpreted as a DNA mixture originating from four individuals The statistical calculation supports the inclusion of Dominique Dangelo Taylor to the DNA mixture The probability of observing this DNA mixture is greater than 100 billion times more likely if Dominique Dangelo Taylor and three unknown, unrelated individuals are the sources than if four unknown, unrelated individuals are the source TAYLOR has the following felony convictions and adjudications that make him ineligible to possess firearms and ammunition: 2 62-CR-26-574 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 1/27/2026 Second Degree Manslaughter in Ramsey County District Court File No. 62-CR-20-4206 – convicted on December 11, 2020.
