On November 30, 2025, at approximately 7:29 P.M., Coon Rapids Police Officers responded to Wingate located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] N. W., Room 316, in the City of Coon Rapids, Anoka County, Minnesota, on a report of a possible gun complaint. It was reported that people in room 316 were doing drugs and brandishing guns. Through further investigation, officers found that there may be people in the room that have active domestic abuse no contact orders and warrants. On arrival, officers spoke with the hotel manager who advised they wanted the tenants to vacate the room and have them trespassed from the property due to ongoing complaints.
Officers ran the known occupants of the room and found that two occupants would be in violation of the prohibited persons statute by just being in the presence of a firearm. Officers attempted to call the occupants of the room twice, and no one answered the phone. Officers made contact with the occupants of the room, one of which was identified as Mark Vrendell Robinson, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. Defendant argued with officers and refused to come out of the room all the way. Defendant was advised that he would be tased if he did not exit the room.
Defendant was given this warning multiple times and still refused to exit the room. Officer Morin deployed his taser and the first two probes were ineffective. Officer Morin deployed two more probes, hitting defendant in the abdomen or chest area and leg area. The probes still had no effect. Officer Morin deployed deployed another probe, which appeared to land on defendant's leg. Officer Morin got defendant's legs locked up. Defendant retreated back into the room. Officers entered the room and gave defendant commands to get on his stomach but he failed to comply.
Officer Nochez grabbed defendant and forcefully rolled him onto his stomach. Defendant was told to put his hands behind his back several times but he failed to comply. As officers attempted to get defendant into handcuffs, he resisted officers. Defendant was trying to put his left arm under or in front of his body and tensed his muscles. Sergeant Sinclair could feel defendant's muscles tense as the officer physically grabbed defendant's arms to try to place them behind his back. Officers eventually were able to secure handcuffs on defendant.
It was found that defendant had an active warrant for his arrest.
