On January 11, 2026, at 2025 hours, St. Paul police officers responded to a burglary at 1003 Sims, St. Paul, Ramsey County. MAS, [DOB REDACTED], reported that his uncle’s friend, Yohanny Acuno Esteban, [DOB REDACTED], entered the residence without permission. He was breaking plates and destroying the house. He threatened and pushed his grandmother, LDB, [DOB REDACTED], with a screwdriver. Officers arrested Esteban at the scene. LDB stated that after Esteban forced his way inside, he seemed to be looking for something inside her bedroom.
He tried to take her cell phone. He walked toward her with a screwdriver in his hand and he was making a stabbing motion. She thought he was going to kill her. Another resident of the home, APD, [DOB REDACTED], disarmed Esteban. Witnesses stated that Esteban may have been high on a controlled substance. In a post-Miranda interview, Esteban stated that he knows the people who live at 1003 Sims. He stated that they allow him to stay on their couch. He said that he had been smoking an unknown drug. He became confused and was seeing and hearing things that were not real.
He remembered holding a screwdriver. He said he is embarrassed about his actions.
