Your Complainant is a Deputy with the Steele County Sheriff's Office. Investigation has revealed that on March 22nd, 2026, Deputy Rector responded to the Steele County Detention Center to take a report of a Corrections Officer being assaulted. When Deputy Rector arrived on scene he spoke with Sergeant Prusha who informed Deputy Rector that Rueben Rodriguez Jr. [DOB REDACTED], had thrown a chair that hit Officer Krueger. Sergeant Prusha showed Deputy Rector the video of the incident, in which Rodriguez can be seen throwing a cup across the room then picking up a plastic chair and throwing it at Officer Krueger.
Deputy Rector then spoke with Officer Krueger and Rodriguez about the incident. Deputy Rector obtained the following statement from Officer Krueger, "I was doing med pass with another inmate. The other inmate was then locked back in his cell. It was Rodriguez's time out. As I was wheeling the cart out of the room I saw Rodriguez's cup go flying and hit the door. I walked back into the room to tell room to lock in. Rodriguez had the chair up over his head and threw it and it hit my hand. Rodriguez then went back into his cell and the cell was locked.
Rodriguez said, 'fuck you. I hate this place.'" Deputy Rector photographed Officer Krueger's hand. Deputy Rector could see a red area on Officer Krueger's hand where the chair hit her. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 609.49 intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
