On February 3, 2026, Princeton Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on Rum River Drive South, Princeton, Mille Lacs County on a report of an active disturbance or assault. Dispatch advised hearing excessive background noise and children yelling “help.” Upon arrival, Officers heard loud banging and yelling coming from the interior of 307 ½ Rum River Drive South, which is a small, shed-sized residence in the rear or southwest side of [ADDRESS REDACTED] South. They observed a male party through the north window banging on the window appearing as if he was attempting to break the window and escape from the residence.
Officers approached the main door on the east side, where they observed a female party exiting the residence later identified as C. L. F. With blood all over her face and head. They also observed multiple juveniles yelling inside the residence. An adult male exited the residence, later identified as Defendant ZACHARY RYAN CONNORS [DOB REDACTED], who also had visible injuries and bleeding to his head and facial area. Officers detained Defendant and C. L. F. And secured them in squad vehicles. Officers then spoke with the juveniles who were present at the residence.
There were five juveniles, aged 1 to 11 years old. The older children were upset and crying and stating they were scared. They reported that Defendant and C. L. F. Had gotten into an argument which turned into a physical altercation. They stated that both parties were pushing and hitting each other, and that one party’s head hit the wall. Juvenile-1 (YOB 2014) stated he sustained a minor injury from a ring of keys being thrown at his head, which Officers observed on the left side of the cheek bone area below his temple.
The children also stated that the head of the youngest child, [name withheld — minor]-2 (YOB 2024) had been bumped during the altercation. Officers observed multiple broken holes in the wall and numerous blood spots on the floor throughout the residence, and items broken and appearing to have been knocked or thrown around. Defendant, C. L. F., and all five children were transported to the hospital for evaluation. C. L. F. Was found to have a broken nose. Defendant and C. L. F. Were then transported to the Mille Lacs County Jail.
Defendant provided a mirandized statement to law enforcement at the jail. He stated that he had been sleeping and was assaulted when he woke up. He also stated that he and C. L. F. Had been drinking shots and mixed drinks. He reported he had been punched four or five times by C. L. F., and made comments about being physical with her but would not provide specifics. Defendant has a prior conviction for 3rd Degree Assault from 2023 (court file ••-CR-••-••••). PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
