SENECA LEE JONES, [DOB REDACTED], has convictions and adjudications for crimes of violence that includes a conviction in court file 27-CR-18-22182, Burglary 1st Degree, conviction 8/21/2018. JONES is prohibited from possessing firearms. On November 20, 2025, US Marshalls and officers executed a search warrant at 253 4th Street East, #405, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey. The search warrant was in relation to a homicide investigation involving JONES and seeking to apprehend him. Investigators received information that JONES was staying at the residence with JAMES HENRY HORSHAW, Jr., [DOB REDACTED]. JONES was seen driving a BMW that belonged to HORSHAW. JONES was found in the home hiding under a bed, and was taken into custody.
During the search, a CZ Scorpion pistol with red dot sight and extended magazine was located in a bedroom. The room had toddler age and baby clothing. There was adult male clothing near the bed in a duffel bag in the room. A loose live round was found on the bedroom floor at the foot of the bed. Officers obtained clothing for JONES from this room after his arrest. VP and her two small children were inside of the residence. HORSHAW was not present. VP spoke to an officer. She said JONES had been staying with her and HORSHAW for approximately one month at the residence.
VP said there should be no firearms in her house or vehicle. HORSHAW took her vehicle to work on this day and left the BMW for her. The keys to the BMW were in VP’s purse. Another firearm-Polymar 80 with black extended magazine- was found under the front passenger seat in a black BMW parked outside of the residence. This vehicle belongs to HORSHAW. The firearm had a live round in the chamber and live bullets in the extended magazine. There was a black backpack directly behind the driver’s seat that had loose ammunition.
On November 21, 2025, HORSHAW spoke to an investigator in the parking lot of his place of work. When asked if fingerprints or DNA would be found on the firearms recovered, HORSHAW said possibly on the gun that was in his car. HORSHAW said the gun was not his, and had “been around” for about two months. HORSHAW knew the gun was in his car and admitted touching it. HORSHAW said the gun in his car belonged to JONES. HORSHAW denied any knowledge of the gun found under the bed inside the residence. The DNA tests done on the firearms by the BCA excluded JONES and HORSHAW as possible contributors to the DNA mixtures.
The Minneapolis Police Department Forensic Division conducted fingerprint comparisons. Exhibit 26, from grip of CZ pistol, comparison conclusion identified to JONES’s right palm.
