On May 29, 2026, at approximately 3:42 P.M., Metro Transit Officers were boarding a train on Cedar Street, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, when they heard a female scream “Police.” As the train approached, Officer Nelson saw a female pulling back from a male, screaming for help, and heard her say he “pointed a gun at me.” The suspect was later identified as TRAVIS DESHAUN KING, [DOB REDACTED]. KING was handcuffed. A gun was not located on KING. RE gave officers a gun magazine. KING said he went to the 10th Street Platform to get his phone and that his phone was stolen.
He said he talked to these women and told them he would pay them to get his phone back. He went to give them money. The women grabbed him and took all of his money. When told that the females reported a gun was involved, KING said, “I don’t know what they are talking about.” In the squad car, KING was informed that the gun was stolen. KING said he needed to protect himself and someone gave him the gun. KING said he did not know the gun was stolen. RH said they found KING’s phone near Lexington LRT platform.
They spoke with KING on the phone and agreed to meet up to return his phone. KING said he would given them $100 as a reward for returning his phone. They met KING at the 10th Street Platform. KING tried to hand them $50 instead of the agreed $100. She argued with KING. KING raised his shirt. RH saw the black handle of what she believed was a gun. She walked away from KING. RE and KING began to fight. She yelled at RE that KING had a gun. RH said she feared for her life. RE said her involvement began after the initial disagreement occurred and when KING pulled a gun on her friend as she walked away.
RE tackled the male and fought with him over the gun, trying to disarm him. RE was able to remove the magazine from the gun and threw it to the ground. An officer spoke with RE and RH. One female said KING pulled the firearm halfway out and the other female said he pulled the firearm all the way out. A black fanny pack was located inside the shelter on the East Platform on 10th Street where KING was previously standing. There was a black Sig Sauer firearm, Model P320, with a magazine (15 9mm rounds) inside the fanny pack.
The fanny pack had KING’s driver’s license. The firearm returned stolen out of Cass Lake Police. KING was seen on surveillance getting off of the train and in possession of a black bag. A female and KING greeted each other as if they knew each other. KING and a female in gray overalls (RE) extended arms to one another, but the woman appeared to slap KING’s hand down. A fight followed. KING does not have a permit to carry a firearm in a public place. In court file ••-CR-••-••••, KING was convicted of Carry/Possess a Pistol without a Permit in Public- gross misdemeanor, conviction 09/02/2025. Video did not show a firearm being brandished.
