On July 19, 2025 at approximately 3:25 P.M., Mower County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home in the 50000 block of 160" Street in rural Austin, Mower County. Dispatch advised that a female, later identified as HOLLI ANN ELLISON, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the defendant, was carrying a hammer and chasing Victim A (an adult male) across the yard. As deputies responded, dispatch advised both the male and female were on the phone with them and the parties were separated. Mower County Sheriff Deputy Christopher Beaver arrived on scene and observed the defendant by the front steps of the home.
Deputy Beaver instructed the defendant to walk towards him and remove her purse and empty her pockets; she complied. The defendant told Deputy Beaver that she removed a relay from Victim A's vehicle because he likes to "run away" from her when they argue. The defendant said Victim A has a roommate, Witness A (an adult female), and the defendant is his girlfriend "or whatever the f@#$ | am." The defendant said Victim A is mad at her because she made a comment to him about how Witness A can slam doors but she cannot.
The defendant told Deputy Beaver she "might have been a little upset with him" and "might have yelled at him" and "might have come after him" but had no intention of hurting Victim A. The defendant stated she knew she shouldn't have taken a relay out of his car and maybe she was being "a little extreme right now." The defendant then asked Deputy Beaver if she could get her water bottle, which was in the house, and he accompanied her inside. While walking inside, Deputy Beaver observed a hammer on the ground next to the front steps.
He took photos and seized the hammer as evidence. The defendant became defensive, told Deputy Beaver it was not evidence, and she never swung the hammer at him. The defendant eventually told Deputy Beaver that she got the hammer from inside the vehicle which she identified as a black SUV. Deputy Beaver noted that throughout his conversation with the defendant, she was speaking very rapidly and was difficult to understand. The defendant initially told Deputy Beaver that she had ADHD and anxiety, but while at the jail, she admitted to using methamphetamine earlier that day and that her use of methamphetamine likely contributed to her speech and possibly her behavior and actions.
Mower County Sheriff Deputy Nicholas Krebsbach arrived on scene and spoke with Victim A. Victim A stated he and the defendant have been in an "on/off relationship" for a year and a half to two years, and while they had lived together for some of that time, they had not been recently. The defendant had been staying at his house for the last few days, however. Victim A stated the defendant was "acting crazy today." Victim A stated the defendant wanted to go to work with him, and he told her that she couldn't come with him, and she "flipped out." Victim A said that the defendant went over to his vehicle and started messing with the relays, removing one.
