On December 22, 2025, deputies with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office were on patrol in the area of 25th Street East and Elliot Avenue in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Deputies observed a vehicle illegally parked which was obstructing a driveway. Deputies made contact with the female driver who was walking away from the vehicle. Deputies asked the female for her identification, but the female stated she did not have any identification cards on her. The female then identified herself as “Ameera Boyd” with a date of birth of August 7, 1998. When providing this name, the female hesitated before giving the name.
Deputies ran checks on this name. The check revealed an entry of “Changed of Record State.” Deputies know this to mean that a state identification had issued at some point but was officially transferred to another State. Deputies found a name that was similar to the one provided by the female. Deputies found that this name had a corresponding social security number. Deputies returned to the female who was unable to recount her social security number. Other units responded and the female was fingerprinted.
The results of the fingerprinting revealed that the female’s true name was Angel Meleah Boyd [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). Defendant was arrested for providing a false name. Defendant was transported to the Hennepin County Jail whereby Defendant told officers that she had recently ate fentanyl. Due to this statement, deputies brought Defendant to the Hennepin County Medical Center (“HCMC”). While at HCMC, deputies stood by while Defendant changed into a hospital gown. While this was occurring, deputies searched Defendant’s property.
The property contained a folded piece of paper. Inside of the folded piece of paper was a substance that field tested positive for Fentanyl, a schedule-II controlled substance, and weighed 0.07-grams. On June 13, 2016, Defendant was convicted of a felony Chapter 152 offense based on court file number ••-CR-••-••••.
