Your complainant is employed by the Champlin Police Department. In that capacity, complainant has reviewed official reports filed and has learned substantially the following: On October 24, 2025, at approximately 1904 hours, Officer Salfer and Officer Mikel were dispatched to Target, [ADDRESS REDACTED], Champlin, Hennepin County, Minnesota, on a report of a theft in progress. Upon arrival, officers met with the reporting party, JMO [DOB REDACTED], a loss prevention employee. JMO stated that he had detained a female, later identified as Salma Mohamud Dirie, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein, who was observed taking and concealing merchandise valued at $533.98. JMO advised the Defendant was observed walking past all points of purchase and attempted to exit the store without paying for the merchandise.
JMO presented a still image showing the Defendant in possession of the stolen merchandise beyond the point of sale. Defendant was placed under arrest for gross misdemeanor theft and transported to the Champlin Police Department, where she was booked on the theft charge. Officers noted during the booking process, Defendant made unsolicited statements including, “I did it.
