A sworn officer with the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office duly states the following facts establish PROBABLE CAUSE: On or about October 01, 2025, at approximately 7:57 P.M., while on routine patrol within the City of Holdingford, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, Deputy Andrew Troen observed a Dodge Challenger turn off 2nd Street West onto County Road 17. As it turned, Deputy Troen heard the exhaust rev up extremely loud and it appeared to very quickly accelerate. Deputy Troen caught up to the vehicle at the intersection of County Road 17 and County Road 9 North, and observed it was parked in the lane of traffic.
A vehicle in between the suspect vehicle and Deputy Troen stopped and waited for the suspect vehicle to move. Deputy Troen initiated a traffic stop for the vehicle being parked in the lane of travel. Deputy Troen made contact with the driver, identified by his Minnesota driver’s license as Thomas James Koralewski, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant herein. In speaking to him, Deputy Troen detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the defendant’s breath, observed glossy eyes, and he lacked fine motor control while attempting to remove his license from his wallet.
The defendant admitted to drinking. The defendant was requested to exit to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Test, to which he complied. During the HGN Test, Deputy Troen observed a lack of smooth pursuit, the onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees, and distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation in both eyes. Deputy Troen also observed the defendant swayed while standing. The defendant indicated he did not want to continue with testing as he would fail, he then submitted to a PBT which registered a result of 0.21. The defendant was placed under arrest and was transported to the St. Joseph Police Department.
Upon arrival, at approximately 8:43 P.M., Deputy Troen read the Minnesota Breath Test Advisory to the defendant. The defendant stated he understood the advisory, did not wish to consult with an attorney and agreed to complete a breath test. At approximately 9:03 P.M., the test was administered using the DataMaster DMT. The registered results of the defendant’s test revealed a breath alcohol concentration of 0.21. Complainant has reason to believe and does believe that all of the above information is true and correct.
The above facts constitute the complainant’s basis for believing that the above-named defendant, on or about October 01, 2025, in the City of Holdingford, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, committed the described offenses.
