On June 27th, 2025, Officers with the Minneapolis Police Department responded to a missing person report at the 2600 block of 16th Ave S in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with Keanna Tonette Lumpkins, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, who stated she had a verbal dispute with her 11-year-old daughter, the Child herein, the day before regarding visiting her father in Indiana. Defendant told her daughter she could not leave the state. The Defendant stated that the child left the apartment around 9 o’clock that morning without permission.
She believed the child’s grandfather had picked her up and taken her to a relative's home. Coon Rapids Police later confirmed that the child [NAME REDACTED] at a residence with family members on her father’s side located in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Coon Rapids Police did note that the child had visible bruises and marks on her body, her arms, and back. At that point, police asked the Defendant if she disciplines the child, to which she responded she disciplines the child by smacking her butt with her hand and that occurred yesterday during the argument.
On July 2, 2025, the Child [NAME REDACTED]. During the interview, she stated that during the incident in June, there was a trip planned to drive to Indiana to see her dad, and at the last minute, the Defendant said no. When she asked the Defendant why the trip was canceled, the Defendant got mad and hit her with a phone charging cord. The Child said the Defendant hit her with the cord on her right upper arm and right leg. No mark was left on her thigh, but there were bruises on her arm. She stated that her grandpa came to drive her to a family member's house, and while in the car, she overheard a conversation where the Defendant called her grandpa and stated he needed to drive the child home and that the Defendant would “beat her ass.” The Child [NAME REDACTED] has run away before because of how the Defendant treats her.
She stated there was a period of time where the Defendant refused to let her go to school and that she missed around 80 days of school. She also disclosed that this is not the first time the Defendant has hit her. She remembered multiple incidents about two years prior where the Defendant punched or smacked her.
