On or about April 10, 2026, at approximately 2:28 am, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a reporting party that a family member, JUSTIN ALLEN SHERIDAN, [DOB REDACTED], the defendant, stole the reporting party’s Polaris Ranger out of her garage. The defendant had a revoked driver’s license. Deputies responded to the area; a deputy observed a male driving a Polaris Ranger on a county highway in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The Polaris did not stop and continued driving.
The driver turned from the county highway onto a US highway without stopping at a stop sign or signaling its turn. The driver drove on the shoulder of the opposite lane down the US highway. When the deputy activated the squad siren, the driver drove into the ditch and continued driving. The pursuit speeds were 45 to 50 miles per hour. At approximately 3:33 am, the Polaris came to a stop and the driver put both his hands out of the window. The driver was arrested and identified as the defendant. The ignition of the Polaris had been tampered with; it had a bent fork jammed into it.
It appeared the fork had been used to start the Polaris. The defendant acknowledged the vehicle belonged to the reporting party. The defendant claimed he initially thought the deputy’s vehicle was his girlfriend and claimed he did not see the lights right away. The defendant said he was trying to get off the road when he saw the emergency lights. The defendant is currently pending other charges including, but not necessarily limited to: a Theft by False Representation (Wilkin County, 84-CR-25-137) pending with offense date 04/08/2025. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
Stat. 609.49, intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
