At around 12:10 PM on November 23, 2025, deputies were sent to the apartment building at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Little Canada, Ramsey County on a woman who had stabbed her father. Officers found JLRH [DOB REDACTED] inside the apartment covering the right side of his neck and cheek. JLRH and his wife, CD, identified the suspect as their daughter, CYNTHIA ROMERO [DOB REDACTED]. The couple said their daughter has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and is not taking medication. Romero has told her parents in the past that she hears voices and hallucinates.
CD said Romero woke up in a good mood that morning. Romero declined CD’s offer to make Romero breakfast. Romero later rushed into the living room where JLRH was, and she struck the right side of JLRH’s face with a kitchen knife. Romero held the knife above her head and threatened to kill JLRH. Romero then fled the apartment with the knife. JLRH was transported to Regions Hospital where he was treated for a 4-inch laceration to his face. Deputies later located and arrested Romero not far from the apartment building.
When asked where the knife was Romero indicated she threw over there indicating a wooded area near railroad tracks. Romero said she knew she was in trouble, so she got rid of the knife. Romero declined a custodial statement. Two canines, Smoke and Zuko, searched the area for the knife. The dogs alerted on an area where a knife with apparent blood on its blade was later found covered with rocks and leaves. While at the jail Romero expressed to medical staff that she was suicidal about two weeks ago, but she is now homicidal.
