On March 1, 2026, at approximately 7:48 A.M., Brooklyn Center Police Department officers observed a vehicle traveling on a public highway in Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers noted that the vehicle was continuously crossing the hash lines and failing to maintain its lane travel. Officers conducted a stop of the vehicle based on the noted moving violations. Upon contact with the driver, identified as SHALACIANA LAJOY WOODS, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, officers learned that Defendant's driver's license was canceled as inimical to public safety.
Defendant was arrested for driving with a canceled driver's license. Upon arrival at the jail, officers became suspicious that Defendant was concealing something in her body cavity. Prior to going through the full body scanner at the jail, Defendant admitted that she had contraband in her vagina. Defendant retrieved said contraband and officers took possession of the plastic baggie containing 25 pills of suspected alprazolam. The 25 tablets were identified as alprazolam, a controlled substance via the markings on the pills.
Officers subsequently obtained a report from the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy revealing no records of Defendant having a valid prescription for alprazolam. Defendant is currently out of custody. The forty-eight-hour probable cause hold has expired, and Defendant has posted bail for release. For this reason, the State requests this complaint issue via summons.
