On November 4, 2025, at approximately 7:36 P.M. Officers were on routine patrol in the area of Cedar Ave South and 24th Street East in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers observed a male on a bicycle that did not have a red light to the rear, and when officers approached the male, they saw the bicycle did not have a white light on the front either. Officers stopped the man and observed a knife in a sheath with a knife near his right hand. Officers asked the man for his name, and he identified himself as MICHEAL OFFORD, [DOB REDACTED]. Officers attempted to verify his identify but nothing came back on file.
Officers then used a fingerprint identification device and identified the man as MAURICE LEVELL COOPER, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein. Upon learning his identity officers discovered there was an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear at sentencing on October 8, 2025, in ••-CR-••-••••. In that matter Defendant is charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Defendant was searched incident to arrest and officers located a small plastic wrap in his front pocket that contained a white powder like substance.
The substance later field tested positive for methamphetamine and, with packaging, weighted 1.56 grams. Defendant is currently in custody.
