On November 29, 2025, at approximately 6:02 AM, Rochester Police Officers responded to reports of an individual making threats of violence at a local hospital in Rochester, Olmsted County, Minnesota. Officers Wibstad and Peterson arrived and spoke with ERIC DEAN ANDERSON [DOB REDACTED]. Anderson was upset with hospital staff and was refusing to leave the hospital after being discharged. Anderson’s behavior escalated, and he began to threaten to hurt officers while taking an aggressive posture. Officer Garcia arrived and observed that Officer Peterson had Anderson at taser point.
Anderson was verbally uncooperative and would not listen to officer commands. Officers were eventually able to detain Anderson and place him in handcuffs. While Officers were placing Anderson under arrest, Anderson attempted to bite Officer Peterson multiple times. Officer Garcia spoke with witnesses regarding possible threats that Anderson made. Victim 1, an adult male fully identified in police reports, reported that Anderson made multiple threats of violence to hospital staff. Specifically, Anderson stated that he was going to kill staff members, find their houses, and burn the houses down with their families inside.
Anderson singled out two of the security guards and threatened to find where they lived and kill them. Witness 1, an adult male fully identified in police reports, also reported that Anderson made multiple threats to hospital staff including a threat to burn down houses. Officer Peterson spoke with Victim 2, an adult female fully identified in police reports. Victim 2 reported that Anderson became upset while he was receiving care and that he began threatening to kill hospital staff. Specifically, Anderson threatened to find Victim 2’s house and burn it down.
Victim 2 reported that she felt terrified. Victim 3, an adult female fully identified in police reports, further reported that Anderson threatened to find her house and burn it down. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
