On May 30, 2026, officers were sent to the Sentinel Residence apartment building at [ADDRESS REDACTED] East, North St. Paul, Ramsey County on a burglar who had returned to the apartment complex. Officers spoke to JS and CD who said a man later identified as WILLIAM CHASE GREEN [DOB REDACTED] had propped open a garage door to gain access to the parking ramp. Green entered the garage with a bicycle. JS and CD said Green walked away to the Polar Lounge Bar. Officers stopped Green in front of [ADDRESS REDACTED] East.
Green said his friend Caitlyn lives in [APT REDACTED] at [ADDRESS REDACTED] East, and she had given him permission to enter the complex. Green later told officers he just went in to speak with his girlfriend. Green could not explain why other tenants saw him walking around the Sentinel Apartment complex. Officers detained Green and discovered he had a warrant out of Ramsey County. Green had a Wahoo GPS in his right pocket. Officers found the bike Green had left inside the garage on May 30, 2026. The bike had a Wahoo package on it from Gateway Cycle.
The price tag on the item was $349.99. An employee at Gateway Cycle later confirmed that Green had been in their store inquiring about ordering a charger for a Scott 940 electronic bike. Green said he was in a hurry and needed the charger by Monday. The UPC number on the Wahoo packaging showed the item was still in the store. Green had stolen the item when he was there asking about the charger. The employee wondered if Green had stolen anything because Green was acting suspiciously in the store. The apartment building manager told police she had video of Green taking bikes from the building.
The manager provided surveillance video from May 28, 2026 around 10:15 PM. Green propped a door open with a mountain bike. Green entered the building and unpropped the door removing his bike. Surveillance video showed that at around 3:35 AM on May 29, 2026, Green waited by the side garage door of the Sentinel Residence apartment building. A red sedan exited the garage which is attached to the apartment complex. Green entered the garage with a black mountain bike. Green walked out of the side entrance of the garage with two electronic bikes that had been stored in the garage.
A resident had reported two electric bikes had been stolen on May 29, 2026. The resident said one of the bikes did not have a battery attached to it. The stolen bikes were valued at around $8000. Green was advised of his constitutional rights and agreed to speak to police. Green yelled, “I didn’t steal no e bikes. If I had an e bike I would be riding it.” Green yelled to be shown the e bikes. An officer spoke to the resident of [APT REDACTED] who was not named Caitlyn. The woman did not know Green.
