At around 9:40 AM on February 4, 2026, AM reported that his 2016 Toyota Camry bearing Minnesota license plates APA829 had been stolen from the 200 block of Burgess Street. AM explained that he started the Camry and left the keys inside to warm up the car. AM left the Camry unattended and discovered it had been stolen when he returned. Nobody else had permission to drive the Camry. AM said the Camry’s new license plates (SYB822) were on the dashboard when it was stolen. At 12:40 PM on February 4, 2026, officers responded to a 911 call about a man getting into a vehicle.
The caller said it appeared as if the man was stealing the vehicle which bore Minnesota license plate [PLATE REDACTED]. Officers saw the Camry bearing Minnesota license plates APA829 drive into a parking spot at the Speedway at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County. SAMUEL GEROBB CHRISTIAN [DOB REDACTED] appeared on the Camry’s driver’s side and began walking away. Officers yelled for Christian who turned around and faced officers with his hands above his head. Officers verified that the Camry was AM’s stolen car through its vehicle identification number.
Christian was arrested. When being transported to jail Christian claimed a friend let him borrow the car, and he denied knowing it was stolen. Christian declined a custodial statement. Christian committed this offense while charged with a motor vehicle theft, felony theft, and fleeing police in a motor vehicle in Ramsey County District Court file ••-CR-••-••••. Christian committed this offense while charged with simple robbery and gross misdemeanor theft in Ramsey County District Court file ••-CR-••-••••. Christian has been found competent on those files pursuant to a Rule 20 evaluation, but he is challenging that finding.
