On October 16, 2025, around 3:05 P.M., Minnetonka Police Department officers responded to the Dick's House of Sport store located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minnetonka, Hennepin County, Minnesota, on report of a shoplifting. The officers received live information from a loss prevention employee, E. C., via phone. They were made aware two females entered the store with a young child [NAME REDACTED]. They were observed concealing merchandise in these bags. Officers were then advised the two females exited the store on the second level after walking past all points of purchase without paying for the items they selected.
Officers apprehended the females. The were identified as Alejandra Briguitte Ibarra [DOB REDACTED] and Britany Pricilla Toaquiza Chavez [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Officers recovered the items taken from the store and found Defendant was carrying a bag with 17 items totaling $556.18. Ibarra's bag contained 8 items worth $280.09. Also found in a fanny pack on Ibarra was a large metallic grey EAS Magnetic Dome Detacher. Officers were aware this item was commonly used to defeat security sensors attached to items in retail stores.
Through the use of surveillance, officers were able to locate the 2009 Jeep Compass Defendant and Ibarra arrived in. Officers observed a large amount of merchandise with tags still attached to them. The Jeeps owner, Defendant's stepfather, arrived at the scene. Defendant gave permission for him to take custody of her daughter. She also gave officers permission to enter the vehicle and recover the merchandise. Based on the tags attached to the items, the items had been taken from stores inside of Ridgedale Mall-- Alo, Nike Sephora and Victoria Secret.
Officers received surveillance video from Ridgedale Mall, which showed Defendant and Ibarra entering Alo and Nike earlier that day. A Victoria Secret loss prevention employee, S. Y, indicated they had surveillance of both Defendant and Ibarra in the store earlier in the day removing security sensors from products. Sephora also provided surveillance video. The total amount taken from all stores is as follows: -Alo, $138.00 -Nike, $230.00 -Sephora, $754.25 -Victoria Secret, $846.82 -Dicks House of Sport, $836.27 The total amount both suspects combined to take from the stores is $2,805.34.
