On November 28, 2025, at 11:25 P.M., Richfield Police Officer Dominick Miland was on patrol in the City of Richfield, Hennepin County, when he observed a vehicle traveling approximately 10 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. The officer also observed the vehicle was riding on rims with no tire tread on the front and rear passenger side. Due to the officer’s observations, the officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer approached the driver, identified as Alayna Latika Lindbom and hereinafter referred to as the defendant.
While speaking with the defendant, the officer detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. The officer also observed the defendant’s eyes were bloodshot and watery, her speech was slurred and her reactions were slow. The officer performed the HGN test on the defendant, which she failed. The officer did not conduct the walk and turn nor the one leg stand test due to the cold weather. The defendant provided a breath sample for the preliminary breath test with a result of 0.146 BrAC. At this point, the defendant admitted to drinking “a little bit.” Based on the defendant’s driving conduct, physical symptoms, verbal admissions, and field sobriety performance, the officer believed the defendant was impaired by alcoholic beverage while driving and arrested the defendant as a result.
During an inventory search of the vehicle, the officer located a half empty bottle of rum in a paper bag on the backseat floorboard. At 1:00 A.M., the defendant provided two breath samples for the datamaster test with a result of 0.177 BrAC. The defendant has no prior DWI offenses. The defenadnt was 18 years old during this incident.
