At approximately 3:30 PM on December 14, 2025, Deputy Corkins of the Carver County Sheriff’s Office responded to a driving complaint regarding an intoxicated male that had just left Knucklehead’s Bar & Grill in the City of Mayer. Carver County. The reporting party indicated the male suspect had been threatening others in the bar and had left in a black Audi Q5 with Minnesota registration LJT474. Deputy Corkins located the vehicle parked at Heldt’s Bar and went inside to talk with the bartender, who pointed out a male who had come in the vehicle.
Deputy Corkins identified the male to be Aleksandr Igorevich Shapoval [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant. Deputy Corkins noted Defendant’s eyes to be bloodshot and watery and Defendant had difficulty getting his ID out of his wallet. Defendant indicated he had consumed very little alcohol since arriving at the bar ten minutes prior, and Deputy Corkins noted Defendant’s beer bottle to have hardly any missing. This was confirmed by the bartender. Defendant declined to perform field sobriety tests.
Defendant was placed under arrest and transferred to the Carver County Jail where he was read the Minnesota Breath Test Advisory. Defendant attempted to provide a breath sample, but gave numerous deficient samples by stopping his effort to blow early three times. Defendant was asked again if he would provide a sample and Defendant stated no. Defendant is currently required as a condition of his driving privileges that any use or possession of alcohol or drugs would invalidate his license and was required to drive vehicles only if equipped with ignition interlock.
Defendant’s vehicle was not equipped with ignition interlock. Defendant has previously been convicted of qualified DWI related offenses on March 8, 2017, in Court File ••-CR-••-••••; March 8, 2017, in Court File ••-CR-••-••••; and May 1, 2018, in Court File 70-CR- 18-5076. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49., intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
