On January 02, 2026, Wright County Sheriff’s Deputy Oltz received a report of a possible abuse incident that occurred on December 30, 2025 in Monticello, Wright County, Minnesota. JTT’s juvenile son (hereinafter “the juvenile”) told her that his father, Andrew Duane Trombley [DOB REDACTED] (hereinafter “the defendant”), placed his arm around the juvenile’s neck which caused the juvenile to be unable to breathe. On January 05, 2026, Wright County Sheriff’s Detective Bailey and Wright County Health and Human Services Child Protection Investigator Zachman took a statement from the juvenile.
The juvenile said that the Tuesday prior (December 30, 2025), the juvenile was mad and kicked a chair. The defendant then put the juvenile in a headlock for about 15 seconds. This resulted in the juvenile being unable to breathe for 5- 10 seconds. The juvenile’s head hurt afterwards because of the defendant squeezing it to his body. The juvenile said this occurred at the defendant’s house. Police reports indicate the defendant lives in Monticello, Wright County, Minnesota. Two of the juvenile’s siblings saw the defendant place the juvenile in a headlock.
The juvenile also told Detective Bailey and Investigator Zachman about an incident that occurred in a locker room in Buffalo, Wright County, Minnesota early in the hockey season (police reports indicate November 2025). In that incident, the defendant grabbed the juvenile by the jersey, slammed the juvenile into the wall, and yelled at the juvenile. The juvenile told the defendant that the juvenile thought he might have a concussion because of it. The juvenile’s head hurt, and there was a large lump on his head.
On January 09, 2026, Detective Bailey and Investigator Zachman spoke with the defendant. The defendant admitted he vaguely remembered the juvenile kicking a chair. The defendant initially said he maybe put the juvenile in a headlock, but later said he does not remember and does not think he would ever put the juvenile in a headlock. The defendant said if he did use a headlock, it was just to calm the juvenile down. The defendant said the juvenile has outbursts and does not communicate properly. Regarding the locker room incident, the defendant said the juvenile was throwing things and trying to break things.
The defendant admitted picking the juvenile up and bear hugging him. When the defendant set the juvenile down on a bench, his head bounced off the concrete wall. The defendant admitted seeing the bump on the juvenile later. The defendant denied trying to hurt the juvenile.
