On November 3, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at multiple locations connected with an ongoing controlled substance investigation. One of the residences searched as part of that operation was 212 9 1/2 Street SE in Rochester, Olmsted County, MN. That residence is occupied by DEVON MONTRELL NICHOLSON [DOB REDACTED] and his grandparents. Officers searched the bedroom occupied by Nicholson. In that bedroom, a scale with methamphetamine residue was found on his bed. The bedroom contained a Glock 19 handgun with a loaded extended magazine, multiple empty firearm magazines, and ammunition.
Officers also found heat sealed packaging with methamphetamine residue on it. The basement of the residence was then searched. A purple tote containing a large plastic bag was opened. Inside the plastic bag, officers found numerous bags of suspected methamphetamine in heat sealed packaging, matching the packaging found in Nicholson's bedroom. The substances later tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine and weighed a total of 3,774.3 grams (approximately 8.3 pounds). This amount of methamphetamine far exceeds a user amount of methamphetamine as well as a sale amount for a typical street-level dealer.
The amount of packaging material and quantity of methamphetamine is indicative of a large-scale methamphetamine sales operation. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
