On November 22, 2025 at approximately noon, Mower County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Pike was dispatched to the Mower County Law Enforcement Center to take a report of a sexual assault. Deputy Pike met with Victim A (an adult female) and her friend, Witness 1 (an adult female). Victim A told Deputy Pike that she was raped by her husband at the time, JESSIE ALLAN RIESE, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the defendant, the night of May 25, 2025. Mower County Sheriff’s Detective Evan Sorenson followed up with Victim A on January 2, 2026 to obtain further clarification of incidents she reported to Deputy Pike.
Victim A said she went to a Minnesota Twins game with the defendant on May 25, 2025. The defendant was upset with her because he did not want to go to the game, and he was still upset by the time they returned to their home in the 65000 block of 250th Street in Dexter, Mower County. Victim A stated the defendant was served divorce paperwork in August of 2024, and their divorce was finalized on September 27, 2025. During that time, the defendant slept on a couch in the living room of their home “a majority of the time.” Victim A said the defendant definitely was sleeping on the couch in May and June of 2025 because they “were not in a great situation at the time.” Victim A said she had a few alcoholic drinks at the game and probably smoked half of a marijuana joint as well.
Victim A said she also took her epilepsy medication prior to going to bed, which can also cause drowsiness. Victim A said she locked her bedroom door that night, but the defendant unlocked the door at some point as he came into her bedroom on the morning of May 26, 2025. Victim A said the lock is easily unlocked with a coin or other flat object. When he came into her room on the morning of May 26, the defendant laid on top of her. She believed it was between 5:00 A.M. And 8:00 A.M. Victim A said he held her arms off to the side of her body with his hands, pinning her down.
The defendant put his face within 6 inches of hers and told her that he had sex with her last night while she was asleep. Victim A said she was confused and uncomfortable, and the more confused and disturbed she became, the more the defendant would smirk as if he was getting pleasure from her reaction. Victim A said she questioned the defendant about what happened as she did not believe him, and the defendant said something about the sweatpants she was wearing when she went to bed. The defendant eventually got off her, and Victim A went to the bathroom and noticed a stain on the back of her sweatpants she believed was the defendant’s sperm.
She said the stain was inside of her sweatpants a couple inches down from where the tag is located near the waistband. Victim A was confident that the stains were the defendant’s sperm because she showed it to him and smiled. Victim A said she questioned the defendant again, and the defendant said they are married so it was not rape. Victim A told him how messed up it was for him to do that, and the defendant then said he did not know she was asleep. Victim A said she reported the assault to her therapist as she was questioning whether it was a crime, given they were still married.
