On December 11, 2025, Annandale Police Chief Standafer was on patrol and aware of an active warrant for the arrest of Dustin Hunter Brown, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the defendant. Chief Standafer was aware that the defendant frequents the address of [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW in Annandale, Wright County, Minnesota, which is where his relatives live. While driving in the area, Chief Standafer observed a green SUV bearing MN plate JWK071, coming from the area of [ADDRESS REDACTED] NW. There were two male occupants in the front of the vehicle.
The driver was recognized from past encounters as Micheal Crandall Brown, who is related to the defendant and who in the past Micheal has been known to not hava a valid DL. Chief Standafer began following the vehicle, and shortly thereafter, he saw the male driver get out and look at the front of his vehicle and underneath it. At this point, the Chief pulled up and asked if he was having vehicle issues. The driver was then asked who was in the passenger seat and he said, "Dustin." Micheal confirmed that he did not have a valid driver’s license.
Shortly thereafter, Officer Weinzetl arrived and as the passenger door opened, Chief Standafer confirmed the passenger’s identity as the defendant, who was known from past encounters. Micheal stated he was the owner of the SUV, and when asked if there would be anything concerning in the vehicle, he said that he didn't think so or if so it wasn't his. When he was asked for permission to search the vehicle, he said, “I guess so”. Chief Standafer conducted a search of the passenger area of the motor vehicle first.
Under the passenger seat where the defendant had been sitting a pair of gloves were found stuffed under the seat. There was a zipper pocket on the top of the glove where a heat pack or other items would be stored. Inside that pocket, a clear plastic baggie with a paper note inside and white crystal substance immediately suspected to be methamphetamine was located. The paper note had numbers that appeared to be drug related based upon the Chief’s training and experience. The crystal substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 7.35 grams.
