On January 4, 2026, at approximately 3:06 P.M., Bloomington Police were dispatched to a theft of credit cards report that were stolen from Sam's Club, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] West in Bloomington, Hennepin County. Police contacted the victim [NAME REDACTED] who reported sometime between 11:45 and 12:00 he had lost three bank cards that were subsequently used fraudulently. A Wells Fargo debit card #1137 was used at Goodwill for $79.94. An American Express credit card #3001 was used at Best Buy for $268.03. The total value of the fraudulent charges was $347.97. At approximately 2:51 P.M., Richfield Police contacted K. M. And told him they had a suspect in custody for theft who had used his bank cards.
Police contacted Richfield Police and obtained the report, which identified the suspect as WILLIAM CHIVES LEANYEAR [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. The report detailed that Defendant was arrested after shoplifting and multiple items were recovered from his person, including two Wells Fargo debit cards and an American Express credit card belonging to K. M. Defendant was also in possession of several clothing items from Goodwill and a new Samsung phone from Best Buy with a receipt showing K. M.'s name on it.
Police obtained video surveillance confirming Defendant was the individual that made the purchases. At present, Defendant is in custody.
