On August 27. 2025 Inv. Radamacher met with a risk analyst with risk investigative services at the Mayo Clinic, located in Rochester, Minnesota. Mayo Clinic reported that an employee, RYAN BRADLEY LOTT- GARDNER, [DOB REDACTED] stole a large amount of money using Mayo Clinic credit cards. The Mayo Clinic has a Fleet Division including 10 vehicles used for specimen transport. A fleet credit card is assigned to each vehicle to be used for car related expenses, including gas, parts and repairs. They began investigating in April/May of 2025 when department leadership identified unusual expenses related to the cards.
They discovered that there were charges that came from one specific vendor and patterns that did not make sense. In 2024 they added Lott-Gardner as a lead assistant to support fleet operations, and in May of 2024 Lott-Gardner became in charge of managing the fleet credit cards, and was responsible for managing vendor relationships and vehicle repairs. Lott-Gardner recommended a vendor by the name of "A-1 Auto" citing their flexibility and ability to service all 10 vehicles including larger box trucks.
Lott- Gardner began using "A-1 Auto" in June of 2024. (through law enforcement investigation it was discovered that the "A-1 Auto" recommended and purporedly used by Lott-Gardner does not exist). Charges starting appearing on all of the fleet bank cards as "SQ A-1 Auto" which was determined to be a Square account (payment application) linked to Lott-Gardner. Lott-Gardner had sole control of vehicle repairs. In May of 2025 they started to notice the irregular charges. The only business in Rochester named A-1 Auto confirmed that they never made any repairs to Mayo Clinic vehicles.
There were 247 "SQ A-1 Auto" transactions in 2024 and 2025. It was discovered that 57 occurred at Lott-Gardner's home address in Austin, Minnesota. The 247 transactions add up to $188,918. A second vendor was discovered through investigation named"SQ Rochester Motor Car" adding up to $3000. Investigators contacted Rochester Motor Cars in Rochester and learned that they had no record of the transactions. Lott-Gardner was questioned about the transactions and he was unable to provide any contact information or documentation for the transactions titled "SQ A-1 Auto." Total fraudulent transactions total $191,918. Lott-Gardner claimed that he would identify services that needed to be done and would take a proactive approach by replacing items before they needed to be replaced.
He provided receipts/invoices for 91 transactions for "SQ A-1 Auto." When asked why 57 of the transactions were made at his home, he stated that the mechanic would drive the cars from Rochester, Minnesota to his home and he would swipe his card at home. He did not provide any detail on how the mechanic would then get back to Rochester. Lott- Gardner stated that he received the receipts at his work email approximately 2 to 3 days after the payment. A search of Lott-Gardner's email revealed that the 91 invoices/receipts were sent to his email on 5/13/25 from his personal email.
