On March 11, 2026, officers were dispatched to a gas station located in Plymouth, Hennepin County, Minnesota, based on a report of a domestic dispute. The reporting party told dispatch that she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend, COREY THOMAS MAXEY [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, and that he was threatening to come to her house and kill her while her child [NAME REDACTED] in her vehicle. The reporting party told dispatch that MAXEY had gotten out of her vehicle and went to the gas station.
An officer located MAXEY at the gas station, and a second officer made contact with the reporting party, an adult female identified herein as “Victim,” in her vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Victim reported to police that she and MAXEY have been together for over a year and they currently reside together. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had obtained a rental vehicle because MAXEY damaged her personal vehicle and that MAXEY left in the rental vehicle three days ago and only returned today when he picked her and her nine-year-old daughter up to go to a dispensary in New Hope.
They were driving when MAXEY started an argument. MAXEY stopped at a red light, got out of the driver’s seat and walked away. Victim got into the driver’s seat and did a U-turn, which is when she saw MAXEY go to the gas station. MAXEY FaceTimed Victim and threatened to kill her while on speaker phone. MAXEY had also sent threatening text messages, which Victim [NAME REDACTED]. An officer also took a statement from Victim’s daughter, identified herein as “Child.” Child [NAME REDACTED] had been driving the car when he and her mother started arguing.
MAXEY got out of the car and her mother drove the car away. The Child [NAME REDACTED] called Victim [NAME REDACTED], and Child heard MAXEY state that he was going to kill Victim [NAME REDACTED], which made the Child [NAME REDACTED]. Child [NAME REDACTED] called a second time and told Victim [NAME REDACTED] didn’t pick him up in five minutes, he was going to go to their home and trash it before finding her and killing her. During this second call, Victim [NAME REDACTED] was a child in the car and Child [NAME REDACTED], “I’ll make sure you don’t have your kid anymore.” At the gas station, MAXEY told an offer that he had been arguing with his girlfriend for the last hour and a half.
After officers took a statement from Victim, [NAME REDACTED] informed MAXEY that he was under arrest. MAXEY resisted being handcuffed to the point where three officers had to take him to the ground to gain control of him. A search of MAXEY’s person revealed a pipe. A tin also fell to the ground during MAXEY’s arrest containing a white powder that field tested positive for cocaine. Officers searched the vehicle that MAXEY had been driving, which Victim [NAME REDACTED] in his possession for the last three days.
A small knife was located in the driver’s door, and an airsoft gun was located in a bag on the passenger floorboard. Five baggies were also located in the center console. The substance in the baggies field tested positive for methamphetamine and collectively weighed 4.31 grams. Methamphetamine is a Schedule II controlled substance. Another package of suspected methamphetamine was found under the driver’s seat. This substance also field-tested positive for methamphetamine in the amount of 5.45 grams.
