Lt. Detloff made contact with Defendant and inquired as to why he did not update his phone number. Defendant indicated he had at his February 10, 2026 check-in. In reviewing body worn camera footage of that check in, Defendant did not update his phone number. Defendant was asked if he had to complete a background check for his job as an Instacart driver and Defendant stated M. B. Completed the background check and he uses her account to complete deliveries. Defendant agreed to update his employment and phone numbers at his next check in.
As of February 12, 2026, Defendant was reporting he was sleeping in a blue Subaru Tribeca with MN license plate KWJ 830, which is registered to M. B. Defendant reported he was sleeping in the church 2 14-CR-26-1349 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 4/22/2026 parking lot located at 601 15th Ave North in Moorhead or at the Kwik Trip on 30th Ave S in Moorhead. On February 11, 2026, it was discovered that Defendant had two cell phones that were not previously reported to law enforcement. Law enforcement applied for and was granted a search warrant to place a tracking device on the vehicle Defendant reported he uses and sleeps in.
The search warrant was granted on February 24, 2026 and the tracking device was placed on the vehicle on the same date. On March 3, 2026, location information showed the vehicle was stationary at 4835 28th Ave S in Fargo. M. B. Lives in that building and law enforcement made contact with the leasing manager, who confirmed M. B. Lives in the building and is listed as the sole tenant of the unit. The manager stated she had worked at that building since July 2025 and had seen Defendant in M. B.'s apartment twice but observed him coming and going from the apartment multiple times.
She stated Defendant and M. B. Act oddly as if they do not want to be noticed.
