On January 3, 2026, at approximately 8:30 pm, Hopkins police officers responded to a residence in Hopkins regarding a sexual assault. Upon arrival, officers met with adult female Victim, age 18. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was just sexually assaulted by a man she met over Snapchat, identified as ABDULFATAH MOHAMED AHMED [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter “Defendant.” Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been talking to Defendant over Snapchat for the past week and arranged to meet earlier that night. At approximately 5:30 pm that night, she met Defendant and Defendant drove her to Valley Park in Hopkins, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
While at the park, Defendant parked in the parking lot and they were both inside his car. Defendant started touching and kissing Victim. Victim stated she started to have doubts and did not want to continue but did not resist at this point. Defendant then started removing Victim’s pants. Victim [NAME REDACTED] told her she could keep her underwear on. Defendant penetrated Victim’s vagina with his fingers, then started to remove her underwear. Victim attempted to stop Defendant by pulling her underwear up, but Defendant ignored her and was able to remove her underwear.
Defendant then penetrated Victim’s vagina with his penis without Victim’s consent. Victim [NAME REDACTED] did not want this to happen and did not consent in any way. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in shock but then tried to push Defendant off, but he was on top of her and she was unable to physically move him off. Defendant eventually stopped and gave her back her clothes. Victim stated prior to the assault, Defendant also showed Victim a BB gun and joked about having a real gun. Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Officers arrested Defendant and he is currently in custody.
