On January 17, 2026, at 8:24 A.M. Officer Olson observed a blue Mitsubishi Maserati with Minnesota plate GZJ890 in the parking lot of Speedway located at 301 10th Avenue South in Buffalo, Wright County, Minnesota. The vehicle was parked near the gas pumps. The vehicle was running with its headlights activated. Officer Olson searched the vehicle in the records management system noting the night prior, the vehicle was stopped by Wright County Sheriff’s Office deputies with a K9 sniff search conducted due to locating drug paraphernalia.
A passenger in the vehicle during the previous night’s stop was identified as Paige Katheleen Gruber, [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein. Deputies noted the defendant exhibited signs of recent narcotics use. Officer Olson watched the vehicle for 30 minutes before approaching it to make a welfare check. Officer Olson identified the driver of the vehicle as the defendant. Officer Olson noticed the defendant exhibited a number of signs of impairment by a controlled substance. The defendant had fresh scabs around her face and neck, she talked rapidly and repetitively, her eyes were bloodshot and glossy, and her pupils were dilated.
The defendant admitted relapsing recently on methamphetamine claiming she used two weeks prior. Officer Olson observed evidence of controlled substance use in plain view in the back seat of the vehicle including plastic bags appearing to contain methamphetamine and a scale. Officer Olson had the defendant perform standard field sobriety tests after observing signs of drug impairment with the defendant in physical control of a motor vehicle. The defendant displayed signs of drug impairment during the performance of field sobriety tests.
Officer Olson arrested the defendant for driving while under the influence of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine with a weight of approximately 30 grams. Officer Olson obtained a search warrant authorizing the taking of a blood or urine sample from the defendant. The defendant provided a blood sample pursuant to the warrant. The blood sample will be sent to the crime lab for analysis.
