On 10/31/2025, at approximately 6:04 P.M., a Minnesota State trooper initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, after the trooper’s automatic license-plate reader altered the trooper that the vehicle’s driver’s license status was revoked. The trooper approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver, who was later identified as Briana Lashay Joseph, [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). The trooper observed two children in the back seat, one of whom was Defendant’s 13-year-old child.
During the encounter, the trooper observed a strong odor of consumed alcohol coming from Defendant’s breath and Defendant’s watery eyes. The trooper administered standard field sobriety tests, during which he observed additional clues that Defendant was impaired. The trooper placed Defendant under arrest and transported her to the Hennepin County jail, where he read Defendant the Minnesota breath-test advisory. At 7:00 P.M., Defendant provided a breath sample that reflected a BAC of.08.
