On January 28, 2026, officers responded to a shoplifting incident at TJ Maxx in Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Loss prevention observed a female select 3 packages of socks and a hair straightener and pass all points of sale without attempting to pay for the merchandise. The items cost $96.96. Loss prevention detained the female until law enforcement arrived. The female was identified as Summer Equay Murray [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. A records check revealed the Defendant had an active warrant out of Dallas County Texas for drugs.
The Defendant was arrested. During the booking process officers discovered that the Defendant was wearing three layers of pants. Under the base lawyer was a small amount of raw marijuana and a folded yellow Post-it note with white powder inside. During a search of the Defendant officers observed additional suspected contraband near the Defendant’s buttocks/crotch. Deputies observed the Defendant put something in her mouth and were unable to intervene. Deputies suspected it was another post-it note containing narcotics.
The Defendant was transported to the hospital for possible narcotics ingestion. When the Defendant returned to the jail for booking a second time and was scanned, officers located a foreign object inside the Defendant’s vagina. During another strip-search, the Defendant pulled the folded paper out of her vagina and inserted it into her mouth. She was again transported to the hospital for possible narcotics ingestion. During a third search of the Defendant at the jail, she again attempted to ingest narcotics.
She was told to “spit it out” and deputies were able to retrieve a clear plastic baggie with multiple bindles of a white substance that appeared to be fentanyl. The substances were later field tested. The Defendant had a total of 0.46g of field-tested positive fentanyl in her possession. The Defendant is currently in custody for the outstanding Texas warrant. For this reason, the Defendant would be unable to appear by summons due her custody status and the State requests the complaint be issued by warrant.
