On February 10, 2026, at approximately 1831 hours, law enforcement responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota for a report of an accident. Upon arrival, law enforcement observed a Nissan Quest that had crashed into two legally parked vehicles. Minneapolis firefighters were speaking to a male in the driver’s seat of the Nissan Quest who was later identified as Floyd Ladale Wylie, [DOB REDACTED] (Defendant herein). HCMC EMS arrived and directed the Defendant to a nearby ambulance.
Law enforcement observed the Defendant was struggling to walk and appeared to have balance issues while he was walking to the ambulance. While in the ambulance with the Defendant, law enforcement detected a strong odor of a consumed alcoholic beverage on the Defendant’s breath. The Defendant also had slurred speech and his eyes were watery and bloodshot. The Defendant admitted to having a shot of alcoholic prior to driving. Law enforcement conducted the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test on the Defendant and observed 6 out 6 clues of impairment.
Law enforcement also observed vertical nystagmus. The Defendant agreed to provide a preliminary breath test which had a reading of 0.16. The Defendant was placed under arrest, and a search warrant was obtained for a sample of Defendant’s blood and/or urine. The search warrant was presented to the Defendant and the Defendant agreed to provide a blood sample. A blood sample was obtained from the Defendant at Abbott Northwestern Hospital by a certified medical technician at approximately 1936 hours.
The blood sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis. Defendant’s blood sample was determined to have an ethyl alcohol concentration of 0.138 grams per 100 milliliters of blood. The Defendant has a previous Felony DWI conviction in court file number 27-CR-17-29332. The State is requesting a warrant for the Defendant’s arrest given the serious nature of the allegations and for community safety.
