On Saturday, January 31, 2026, Onamia Police Officer S. Muschik was dispatched to Benson’s Bar and Grill at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Onamia, Mille Lacs County on a report of a disturbance. Dispatch then advised that the male party had left in a white Ford Fiesta bearing Minnesota plate EJL192. The male party was later identified as Defendant ERIC MICHAEL SABLAN-ALGER [DOB REDACTED]. Upon arrival, Officer Muschik observed an adult female sitting at the bar crying and holding an ice pack on the left side of her face.
She identified herself as D. M. O., and stated “he went from zero to a thousand in about half a second. It was absolutely insane.” She reported that he hit her in the face, and slammed her on the ground outside. Officer Muschick observed her to have cut marks on both hands and bruising starting to occur. D. M. O. Stated that she and her friends were having a girls’ night out, and she had told Defendant about this earlier in the day. Near the end of the evening, she and her friends arrived at Benson’s Bar and Grill, and Defendant was already there.
During the course of the evening, Defendant and D. M. O. Had an argument. D. M. O. Reported she told Defendant she didn’t do anything wrong, because all she wanted was a girls’ night. Defendant then punched window glass and called her a “whore.” D. M. O. Stated things escalated and they went outside. She stated “he shoved me, I got back up out of the snowbank, and that’s when he cracked me across the face and then I fell down again.” Officer Muschik asked her if she was in fear for her life, and she responded “Actually, yeah.” D. M. O. Stated they had been together for three years.
Officer Muschik spoke to witness [NAME REDACTED]P., who stated he observed Defendant and D. M. O. Arguing inside and saw Defendant punch the window out. After Defendant and D. M. O. Went outside, he went outside and saw D. M. O. On the ground and Defendant on top of her. He reported he told Defendant to “get the f*** off of her.” Defendant then got in his car and took off. Officer Muschik spoke to D. M. O.’s friend A. I. M., who reported that she observed the argument and saw Defendant punch the glass window.
After D. M. O. Was evaluated for injuries by EMS, Officer Muschik advised her that Defendant had been picked up on a traffic stop and would be in jail for the weekend. She expressed fear of Defendant, asking Officer Muschik several times whether she could go home and she shouldn’t have to worry about him showing up. Defendant was arrested and booked into Mille Lacs County Jail that evening on DWI and Obstruction charges. On Sunday, February 1, 2026, Officer Muschik learned that D. M. O. Was at the hospital being seen for her injuries and responded to that location.
