On 05/20/2026 at 1829 hours, Roseville Police responded to the DoubleTree Hotel at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Roseville, Ramsey County for a report of a male suspect who had stolen property from a guest’s room. The suspect was later positively identified as Jason William BURNETT ([DOB REDACTED]). BURNETT was not a guest in the hotel. The DoubleTree employee/Complainant, TV, reported that a male whom he knew as "Jason Burnett" entered a guest’s room and stole a Land O' Lakes backpack. TV was familiar with BURNETT from a call for service on 05/18/2026 (RVCN 26015764) during which BURNETT was found passed out in the hotel.
TV explained that a guest’s keycard was not working for room #321 and a maintenance crew was sent to fix it. When the crew unlocked the door, BURNETT approached and said he was supposed to be in the room. TV said he then saw BURNETT exit the hotel on foot carrying a Land O' Lakes backpack which TV had reason to believe belonged to young interns who were guests in the hotel. While Roseville police were investigating, the hotel guest victim, JG, flagged down Columbia Heights Police. JG told them that his iPad had been stolen, he was actively tracking it on Apple’s “Find My” application, and it was in BURNETT’s Land O’Lakes backpack.
Columbia Heights police stopped BURNETT. BURNETT consented to a search of the backpack. Inside, police found JG’s iPad, belt, charger, and Apple pen. The total value of the stolen items was $781.99. Columbia Heights Police arrested BURNETT (CN 26113701). Roseville Police spoke to JG who said that at about 1630 hours the keycard for his DoubleTree room (#321) was not working. He informed the front desk and then went to dinner. When he returned to his room at about 2000 hours, some of his belongings, including his iPad, were missing.
JG said he tracked his iPad to BURNETT and then flagged down police. When Roseville police tried to interview BURNETT, BURNETT said he did not understand anything, did not speak English (in English), and said he was "a retard". For purposes of Rule 6.
