On March 31, 2026 at approximately 9:30 A.M., Austin Police Department Detective Derek Ellis was riding with Austin Police Department Detective Mark Walski in Detective Walski’s unmarked squad vehicle. Detective Ellis saw CHRISTINA ALINE BROOKS-GREENBACK, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter the defendant, walking in the 900 block of 5th Avenue NW in the City of Austin, County of Mower. Detective Ellis knew the defendant had active Mower County warrants. Detective Walski activated his emergency lights and siren and pulled in front of the defendant in a driveway.
Detective Ellis exited the vehicle, and the defendant began running north across 5th Avenue NW. Detective Ellis told the defendant to stop and that she was under arrest; he caught up to her as she stopped running. The defendant apologized for running. The defendant was placed under arrest for the warrants, handcuffed, and asked if she had anything on her that she shouldn’t have. The defendant stated she had a foil in her bra that likely contained fentanyl. Austin Police Department Officer Michael Hullopeter arrived on scene to transport the defendant.
He first searched her, but did not remove the fentanyl, and placed her in the back of his squad car. Detective Ellis rode in the back seat to the Mower County Jail with the defendant to insure she did not ingest or destroy the fentanyl. At the jail, a female detention deputy removed the fentanyl which was later NIK tested and weighed by Detectives Walski and Ellis. The substance NIK tested positive for fentanyl and weighed 0.3 grams in packaging. A review of the defendant’s criminal history reflects prior convictions for 3rd degree drug sale dated January 29, 2018 (Mower County District Court file 50-CR-17-198), 3rd degree drug sale dated October 4, 2019 (Mower County District Court file 50-CR-19-214), and 5th Degree drug possession dated October 30, 2025 (Mower County District Court file 50-CR-25-1082).
