On February 27, 2026, at approximately 12:38 am., Columbia Heights Police Officer Wilson was patrolling in the area of 51st Avenue NE and Central Avenue NE in the City of Columbia Heights, Anoka County, Minnesota, when he observed a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling southbound on Central Avenue with a non-functioning driver side headlight. Officer Wilson also noted the vehicle did not display a license plate and that the driver drove over the center and fog lines multiple times. Officer Wilson activated emergency lights and the vehicle continued traveling three additional blocks before coming to a stop.
Officer Wilson made contact with the driver, identified as MIER PETER BOTH, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter defendant, and noted she had bloodshot and watery eyes. Officer Wilson observed the defendant’s speech was slurred and she struggled to comply with the request to provide a driver’s license and proof of insurance. Officer Wilson also smelt the odor of alcohol on the defendant’s breath when she blew smoke from a vape device toward his face. Officer Wilson further learned there was an active arrest warrant for DWI from Hennepin County.
When Officer Wilson requested the defendant perform field sobriety tests, she became uncooperative and attempted to flee on foot. The defendant was subsequently arrested, read the Breath Test Advisory and given an opportunity to consult with an attorney. The defendant did not consult with an attorney and indicated she would take a breath test. After multiple instructions and attempts, the defendant failed to provide an adequate breath sample. Review of the defendant’s criminal history and driving record indicate a prior DWI conviction in Hennepin County on August 18, 2022, an Implied Consent license revocation from February 4, 2026, for an impaired driving arrest in Hennepin County District Court File Number ••-CR-••-•••• and a revocation pursuant to a search warrant blood draw that registered a.24 BAC from February 6, 2026.
