On April 22, 2026, officers responded to a call for theft of a vehicle at [ADDRESS REDACTED], in the City of Edina, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota. Officers learned that a blue Subaru Legacy MN SYW132 had been stolen from the address with keys, and that the owner had Airpods and an iPod in the vehicle when it was stolen. These devices were used to determine the location of the vehicle, and officers located the vehicle being driven by a male eastbound on Franklin Avenue near 16th Avenue South in Minneapolis.
Officers followed the vehicle for a period before losing sight of it. Tracking information from the vehicle was used to locate it again in an alleyway, where officers approached from multiple directions to box the Subaru in. Officers activated their emergency lights, and the Subaru backed into the squad vehicle immediately behind it before accelerating into the squad vehicle in front of it. The male driver and female passenger then exited the vehicle and began running from officers. Officers detained the driver and identified him as Justin Wayne Tucker [DOB REDACTED]. Officers searched Tucker incident to arrest and recovered a baggie containing a white powder the officers suspected to be narcotics.
Officers located an additional baggie containing white powder inside the vehicle along with syringes, lighters, and tinfoil. Officers also located a wallet containing identification that did not belong to Tucker, the female passenger, or the registered owner of the vehicle. Tucker is currently in custody.
