On November 5, 2025, at approximately 7:27 A.M., Bloomington Police Officers responded to a trespassed individual in Walmart, [ADDRESS REDACTED] East, Bloomington, Hennepin County. Officers met with Loss Prevention D. A. Who identified LESLIE JEAN WAKEMUP, Defendant herein, on surveillance inside the store. D. A. Was familiar with the Defendant as he had personally trespassed her from Walmart on August 14, 2025. The Defendant was not allowed in Walmart until after August 14, 2026. D. A. And Officers observed the Defendant inside the store unpackaging food and beverages and consuming it without paying for it.
The Defendant concealed several items of merchandise including removing a hatchet from its packaging and then concealing it in her bag. After two hours of being in the store, Officers stopped the Defendant for trespassing. Officers confirmed that the Defendant consumed food and beverages inside the store with no means to pay for them. Officers also confirmed that the Defendant had active warrants for a Third-degree burglary case in 62-CR- 25-4778. In a post-Miranda statement, the Defendant stated that she was in Walmart, and she believed that people were following her.
She stated that she did not have money to pay for the items. $44.30 was recovered from the Defendant and was able to be sold in the store. $167.62 worth of items were recovered but damaged and unable to be sold. $18.20 worth of product was consumed. The total loss is $185.82. The Defendant has been convicted of First-Degree Burglary in case file ••-CR-••-••••. The Defendant is currently out of custody.
