On February 12, 2026, officers with the University of Minnesota Police Department were dispatched to the report of a burglary of a secure apartment building at [ADDRESS REDACTED] SE, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. At the time of dispatch to 930 University, UMPD had previously been dispatched to [ADDRESS REDACTED] SE, another secure apartment building, for a report that there was a male seen trying to open vehicle doors and going through unlocked vehicles in the garage. Officers did respond to that call but were unable to find anyone.
Officers arrived at 930 University and located a man matching the suspect description in the secure garage area. The man was arrested and identified as OSMAN MOHAMED YUSUF, [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein. Officers located on Defendant three Kwik Trip cards, tinfoil with burn residue, and other miscellaneous items. In a Miranda statement, Defendant admitted to having entered the secure garages at 1101 University and [ADDRESS REDACTED] SE and attempting and successfully entering unlocked vehicles.
Defendant also admitted that the Kwik Trip cards in his possession did not belong to him. During the course of the investigation officers made contact with an adult male, VICTIM, [NAME REDACTED] had entered at [ADDRESS REDACTED] SE. VICTIM [NAME REDACTED] was missing three Kwik Trip cards from his vehicle. Officers also spoke with the property manager at both 1101 University and 930 University which are managed by the same company, who reported that he had no record of Defendant being a current or previous tenant and said that Defendant had no permission to be in the secure garages of the buildings.
The State respectfully requests a warrant. Defendant has an active felony warrant in 62-CR-25-2958 for failure to appear, and misdemeanor warrants in Hennepin County.
