On April 20, 2026, officers responded to an assault call near Broadway Street NE and Central Avenue NE in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Dispatch notes relayed that the caller saw a male punching a female and that the female had a child in a stroller. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hoodie and black pants. Upon arrival, an officer observed an adult female (“Victim”) with a child in a stroller. The officer also saw a suspect who matched the description provided in the 911 call.
Victim told the officer that the suspect had grabbed her and that the suspect had warrants out for his arrest. Victim identified the suspect as Defendant JEREMIAH DANO ANDERSON, born on [DOB REDACTED]. As the officer asked Victim to confirm Defendant’s name and birthdate to check for warrants, Defendant looked back at the officer before entering a nearby Metro Transit bus. After confirming that Defendant had active felony warrants, the officer returned to his squad car and drove to catch the bus that Defendant had boarded.
The officer ultimately entered the bus and saw Defendant standing near the secondary exit doors. The officer approached Defendant, informed him that he was under arrest, and took hold of Defendant’s left wrist / left elbow. The officer escorted Defendant from the bus. When Defendant asked why he was being arrested, the officer informed him that the arrest was based on the recent assault and on his active warrants. The officer again told Defendant that he was under arrest and ordered him to place his hands behind his back.
In response, Defendant tensed up, pushed the officer away, and fled on foot. Defendant’s active warrants were for felony offenses in court file # ••-CR-••-•••• and for a Minnesota Department of Corrections release violation on a felony conviction for Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct. Victim told the officer that she had been out walking her child when Defendant suddenly “appeared out of nowhere” and began yelling at her. Victim recalled that Defendant grabbed her by the shirt collar and tried to throw her.
Victim felt fearful for her safety and her child’s safety during the incident. Victim could not use her phone to call 911. Victim [NAME REDACTED] is her ex-boyfriend. The 911 caller told officers that they saw a male hit a female who was with a child. The male and female were yelling at each other. Defendant has prior convictions for qualified domestic violence-related offenses within the past ten years: • March 22, 2022 conviction for felony Domestic Assault in court file #••-CR-••-••••; • May 15, 2019 conviction for felony Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct in court file #••-CR-••-••••; and • June 4, 2018 conviction for misdemeanor Violation of an Order for Protection in court file #27-CR-18- 13553. The State received this case from law enforcement on May 6, 2026. Defendant is in custody and recently appeared in court file #s ••-CR-••-•••• and ••-CR-••-••••. The State asks that a warrant issue.
