On October 5, 2025, at approximately 8:11 A.M., police responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. The caller reported that her ex-boyfriend broke her car window and hit her before he left. Upon arrival, police met with the caller, PDH, who was standing next to her vehicle, a 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan. The officer observed that the window to the middle sliding door was broken, and the door handle was missing. PDH said her ex-boyfriend, DELANO EDWIN GRIFFITHS – [DOB REDACTED], caused the damage and showed police a video she took.
PDH reported that she dated GRIFFITHS in the past, but they broke up a year ago. PDH said GRIFFITHS had nowhere to go, so he was “hanging” with her. PDH stated that she gave birth to a child [NAME REDACTED], and GRIFFITHS is not the father. For the past two days, PDH said she, her three children, and GRIFFITHS were staying at the apartment with her sister. On the morning of October 4, PDH reported that she told GRIFFITHS that she did not want to be with him anymore and wanted to be with her new baby’s father.
PDH said GRIFFITHS got upset and banged on the door to the van but did not cause any damage. After that incident, PDH stated that things calmed down and they all went to dinner. While driving home, PDH said the vehicle broke down and had to be towed back to her sister’s apartment. PDH contacted a mechanic, who worked on the vehicle with GRIFFITHS until the early morning then GRIFFITHS got into bed with her. PDH said her baby woke up early in the morning and started screaming. When PDH got up to get the baby, she threw off the covers and they hit GRIFFITHS. PDH reported that GRIFFITHS got upset and punched her in the head.
PDH said GRIFFITHS told her that since she was no longer his girlfriend, she needed to pay him for fixing her vehicle. PDH stated that GRIFFITHS got upset when she refused. PDH reported that GRIFFITHS gathered his belongings, walked out of the apartment, walked over to her vehicle, ripped off the passenger side door handle, and smashed the vehicle’s window. Police located GRIFFITHS nearby. GRIFFITHS told police that he was at his girlfriend’s apartment and was up until 4:00 A.M. Working on her vehicle.
GRIFFITHS said she refused to pay him for the work, and he got upset. GRIFFITHS admitted that he smashed the vehicle’s window before leaving the scene and said he left to get away from her so they would not get into a domestic situation. GRIFFITHS was taken into custody. Following a Miranda advisory at the Ramsey County Jail, GRIFFITHS told police that he and PDH recently broke up. GRIFFITHS said he was working on the alternator on PDH’s vehicle with another male from midnight to 4:00 A.M. GRIFFITHS reported that PDH paid the other male $70 but did not pay him.
GRIFFITHS told PDH that he wanted $40 for working on the vehicle because they were no longer a couple. When PDH refused to pay him, GRIFFITHS said he got upset. GRIFFITHS stated that he tried to open the vehicle door and broke off the handle. GRIFFITHS reported that he went to the rear passenger side, picked up a glass bottle from the ground, and hit the window, which caused it to shatter. GRIFFITHS said he did not mean to break the window and did not think it would break when he hit it. In a follow-up statement, PDH told the investigator that GRIFFITHS threatened to kill and beat her up if she did not get back together with him.
