On January 13, 2026, Detective Sergeant Zach Eifert received notification that a predatory offender was not living at their listed residence. Detective Sergeant Eifert learned that Brian Braton-Gilbeuna, the above- named defendant, had his primary address listed as [ADDRESS REDACTED] 24 in Erhard, a location in Otter Tail County, but had been evicted from the residence in October. Since that date, there was not an updated primary address submitted. There were two welfare checks conducted on the defendant's wife at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Fergus Falls.
Previously on December 23, 2025, the defendant emailed Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Reed Reinbold to indicate that he was moving to Fergus Falls and that he would register with the Fergus Falls Police Department. Detective Sergeant Zach Eifert had reached out to the defendant on December 23, 2025 and indicated that he needed to change the address five days prior to the move, the change of information form needed to be completed and required a signature, so the process likely needed to occur at the police department.
On January 14, 2026, Detective Sergeant Eifert reached out to the Fergus Falls Police Department and learned that there was never an updated predatory offender registration completed by the defendant. Law enforcement responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED] and knocked on the door. A woman answered and agreed to let law enforcement in to speak with the defendant. When confronted about his status, the defendant claimed he updated his information. Detective Sergeant Eifert informed the defendant he never completed the process.
The defendant stated he did with his probation agent, but could not identify who that was. Law enforcement asked if he would like to come fill out the paperwork. The defendant declined and began to head downstairs. Detective Sergeant Eifert informed the defendant he was under arrest and took him by his wrist. When law enforcement tried to place handcuffs on the defendant, he pulled away and physically resisted law enforcement. The defendant was told several times to stop fighting against law enforcement.
The defendant began headbutting the nearby wall. Law enforcement were ultimately able to arrest and transport the defendant to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility. Detective Sergeant Eifert reached out to the defendant's probation agent, Sarah Urbach, who indicated that the defendant informed her he was moving to Fergus Falls to an address at [ADDRESS REDACTED]. In the email to probation, the defendant indicated he would go into law enforcement to update his registration, but ultimately never did.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49., intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
