On February 3, 2025, at 11:18 P.M., Minnesota State Trooper Brandon Engen was dispatched to Hwy 10 and Foley Blvd, Coon Rapids, Anoka County, for a driving complaint where the vehicle was swerving all over the road. The vehicle eventually crashed and rolled into the ditch. The driver was identified as ANN MARIE AGUILAR [DOB REDACTED], Defendant hereinafter. Trooper Engen was pulled aside by a male, J. M., who identified himself as Defendant’s fiancé. J. M. Stated that Defendant is under the influence of Xanax, and he and his daughter had been trying to prevent Defendant from driving away from her work.
Defendant exhibited symptoms of impairment, including heavily slurred and unintelligible speech, glossy eyes, and was unsteady on her feet. A Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test was conducted, but was unable to be completed because Defendant could not follow instructions. Due to multiple driving complaints, crashing her vehicle, physical signs of impairment, and field sobriety testing, Defendant was taken into custody. Defendant was brought to the hospital, where a pouch she had stuffed in her bra was discovered.
The pouch contained a tin can that had 10 pills/bars that were stamped GG 249, later identified as alprazolam, which is a schedule IV controlled substance. A warrant was obtained for a blood draw. Results are pending.
