On November 21, 2025, at 0100 hours, Deputy McManus, with the Ramsey County Sheriff, attempted to stop a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado near Park and Atwater, St. Paul, Ramsey County. The vehicle displayed a rear plate which showed that the registered owner had revoked driving privileges. The deputy got behind the vehicle in his marked squad car and the vehicle fled. The deputy pursued with lights and sirens. The driver, later identified as Mitchell Lyle Stiffler, [DOB REDACTED], fled through out the streets of St. Paul, going as fast as 80 miles per hour on residential streets and 105 miles per hour on I-94. Stiffler many numerous evasive turns, drove the wrong way in opposing lanes of traffic, and ran multiple stop lights and stops signs.
The State Patrol helicopter joined the pursuit from the air and followed the fleeing vehicle into Minneapolis where the vehicle became disabled. Officers arrested Stiffler. There were two passengers in the back seat. They said that they told Stiffler to pull over but he did not. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was a St. Paul stolen vehicle. It displayed a plate (likely unreported stolen) that did not match the VIN. The proper plates were located inside the vehicle. The keys were not with the vehicle and not on Stiffler’s person.
The ignition was damaged. Stiffler has a prior conviction for Receiving Stolen Property (stolen vehicle) in 2023, and Fleeing Police in a Motor Vehicle in 2019.
