On May 11, 2026, at approximately 4:52 P.M., police responded to a residence at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, police met with the complainant, JNT, who told police that her ex-boyfriend, MATTHEW WAYNE GRAHAM – [DOB REDACTED], destroyed the inside of her home. JNT advised that she purchased the home in June of 2024; shortly thereafter, her boyfriend, GRAHAM, moved in with her. JNT reported that GRAHAM did not contribute to the house items inside and all of the items, except for a few in the upstairs bedroom, were purchased by her.
JNT told police that she broke up with GRAHAM in January of 2026. On February 27, JNT served GRAHAM with a Notice to Vacate, and GRAHAM was given notice to vacate the property by April 20, 2026. JNT reported that on the morning of March 9, she left the house with her daughter because GRAHAM kept them up all night by screaming. JNT told police that over the course of the previous several days, GRAHAM was becoming more mentally unstable and spoke of self-harm. JNT advised that GRAHAM remained at the residence, and the house was in an orderly state.
JNT and her daughter stayed at another residence for a couple of days. On March 11, JNT advised that she returned to the house to check on her cats. When she arrived, she immediately noticed that all of the items on the porch were thrown on the ground. When JNT went into the residence, JNT observed that the kitchen was destroyed with the contents of the pantry cabinets and refrigerator emptied onto the ground, the oven was shattered, and there was not one bit of ground that was visible. JNT reported that every shelf in every other room on the main floor had its contents emptied onto the ground, and her property was destroyed.
Throughout the living and dining rooms, GRAHAM wrote large notes on the wall with phrases such as, “You hurt me and now you have to clean up the mess,” “I’m sorry but you hurt me,” “I loved you so much”, and “You cheated, you lied, you took my best friends.” In the dining room, a noose hung from the ceiling fan. GRAHAM also left a handwritten note expressing the same sentiments that were written on the wall. Upstairs, JNT advised that wallpaper was ripped off the walls and holes were left in the walls.
In JNT’s bedroom, her mattress was flipped over, her bed frame was flipped and torn apart, and each drawer of items was dumped on the floor and covered in a thick layer of sawdust. The only room that was not destroyed was JNT’s daughter’s room. JNT provided two damage estimates from separate companies. In the first estimate, the cost to repair the damage was $40,881.46. In the second estimate, the cost to repair the damage was $37,837.06. Police attempted to contact GRAHAM at his place of employment, but he did not show up for his scheduled shift.
