On 4/24/2026, at about 0104 hours, St. Paul Police saw a 2018 Jeep Cherokee (MN/04726966) parked at a gas pump at the Speedway gas station ([address omitted]) in St. Paul, Ramsey County. The vehicle’s headlights were on and the vehicle was running. The driver, later identified as Keshon Monquelle WRIGHT (DOB/1997-12-19), was unconscious in the driver's seat. Wright appeared to have labored breathing, a lit cigarette appeared to have burned a hole through his pants, and he was unresponsive to verbal stimuli.
There was also a cigar in the center console, which appeared to contain marijuana. The officer opened the vehicle’s door to conduct a welfare check and saw a small plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance in the driver's door handle that police suspected to be narcotics. WRIGHT still did not wake up and it appeared that he had urinated himself. WRIGHT finally woke up when he was removed from the vehicle and arrested. After being Mirandized, WRIGHT claimed that he was sleeping at the pump because he was narcoleptic and didn't feel safe to drive.
WRIGHT initially denied ever consuming narcotics, but then said he had ingested Percocets and other opioid pills within the last couple days. WRIGHT consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search. Police recovered the marijuana cigar, balled up tinfoil, straws, glass smoking devices, half of an Alprazolam pill, and the plastic baggie in the driver's door. The substance in the baggie later tested positive for fentanyl and cocaine with a net weight of.25 grams. After transporting WRIGHT to the LEC, the officer saw that there was a white substance in WRIGHT’s right nostril.
WRIGHT claimed it was due to allergies. Pursuant to a search warrant, police obtained a warrant for a sample of WRIGHT’s blood, which was submitted to the BCA for analysis.
